The Ultimate Reset Day 1

After finishing my 90 day program with P90X and Shakeology I had a lot of options for what program I wanted to try next.  Between Insanity and Body Beast and all the other fitness programs I had a hard time deciding.  In the end though my decision didn't lead me to another fitness program.  Instead I chose Beachbody's 21 Day Cleanse called The Ultimate Reset.  I know that nutrition plays such a huge part in getting fit and healthy.  I can workout till I'm drenched in sweat, but if I'm not fueling my body with the right things then it is all in vain.  Now I have learned a lot already about eating healthy and the addition of Shakeology was a game changer in my results, but I still have much to learn when it comes to eating right.  I have never been one who is afraid to get in the kitchen and cook up some good food.  I just need to be inspired and have a recipe and the instructions laid out for me.  That is where the Ultimate Reset is so amazing.  It lays out every meal and snack for the next 21 days for me.  In addition, I will be taking some supplements that are going to help me with detoxifying my body through a gentle cleanse.  No running to the toilet here!

So I want to bring you along during this program and I plan on documenting every step of the way.  Here is my website with more information regarding the Ultimate Reset:  www.myultimatereset.com/hchatt

Breakfast

Breakfast consisted of two eggs, steamed spinach with pine nuts, and a piece of whole grain toast.  This breakfast didn't blow me away and there wasn't anything new except for eating spinach with my breakfast.  I was pleasantly surprised by how full and content I felt afterwards.  Normally I could eat 4-5 eggs scrambled and with cheese and bacon.  I liked feeling both full and also light at the same time.

Lunch

Lunch consisted of a microgreen salad that contained kale, spinach, lettuce, jicama, carrots, red bell pepper, sprouts, fresh herbs, and an amazing garlic herb dressing.  Accompanying my salad was some miso soup with green onions.  The salad was amazing and I have discovered my new favorite salad dressing!  The soup was a bit bland, but once I added some himalayan sea salt it tasted much better.                                    Salad Recipe    Dressing Recipe    Soup Recipe

Here I am preparing a bulk amount of the salad so I will have it for the next couple days.  I accidentally called the creamy garlic dressing a ranch dressing.

Snack

While the soup and salad was tasty, I did notice myself getting pretty hungry by 1:30pm.  I was given a snack option if I felt I needed it and I chose to use that option today.  My snack was a couple celery stalks with some almond and peanut butter.  This was tasty and also helped me with the hunger I was feeling.

 Dinner

Today's dinner was baked salmon with baby potatoes and steamed spinach.  This was a super easy recipe to follow and I am really digging the idea of cooking with fresh herbs and freshly squeezed lemon juice.  The flavors are just amazing!  I was the guy who would just sprinkle garlic powder and salt on my food before cooking it, but now I'm all about using these fresh ingredients.  The portion was just enough food that I felt full, but not like I over ate.  Recipe

So overall I am very pleased with the Ultimate Reset.  I am just finishing day 1, but I like the foods I ate and the way they made me feel.  I am excited for the days to come.
